Engineering Manager QA
Hungry, Humble, Honest, with Heart.
The Opportunity
At Nutanix, you’ll be part of a highly technical and collaborative team working on some of the most challenging distributed systems problems in the industry. You’ll have the opportunity to influence product quality at scale, lead innovation in test automation, and deliver features that power the future of the Nutanix Cloud Platform.
About the Team
Join the Core Datapath team, the engine room of Nutanix’s Enterprise Cloud. We are responsible for the quality and resiliency of the distributed storage fabric that powers our customers' most mission-critical workloads. As a manager here, you won't just find bugs—you will influence architecture. You will lead a team responsible for end-to-end test planning and the creation of sophisticated automation frameworks that simulate complex, high-scale customer environments. We are looking for leaders who champion a 'quality-first' culture, driving continuous improvement in product quality, scalability, and reliability across the entire development lifecycle.
Your Role
We are looking for a passionate and technically strong QA leader to drive quality for the Core DataPath (CDP) area — a critical component of Nutanix’s distributed systems stack. This role involves leading end-to-end quality efforts for complex features across storage, virtualization, and distributed systems, ensuring high-quality releases that power the Nutanix platform.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end release cycles — including test planning, execution, triage, and closure — ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery.
- Plan and manage multiple feature deliveries across diverse components in the CDP stack.
- Collaborate closely with developers to identify blockers, drive prioritization, perform risk assessments, and ensure swift resolutions.
- Champion automation: target 100% automation coverage for new features and regression testing.
- Monitor and report quality metrics — dashboards, defect trends, release readiness, and turnaround time.
- Build and mentor a high-performing QA team, focused on consistent patch and feature delivery with reliability and speed.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Support, SRE, and Customer Success to reproduce, analyze, and root-cause customer-found defects.
- Work with peer QA teams across components to ensure complete test coverage and feature integration validation.
- Drive continuous improvement by enhancing test automation frameworks, increasing test coverage, and improving stability.
- Facilitate quality governance — lead weekly reviews, triage sessions, and cross-functional syncs to align on quality goals.
What You Will Bring
- BE/MS in Computer Science or related field.
- 8+ years of industry experience, with 2+ years in QA leadership or management roles.
- Proven expertise in distributed systems, storage, or virtualization domains.
- Strong experience designing test strategies and automation frameworks for complex system software.
- Proficiency in Python (preferred) and/or C++ for automation and debugging.
- Strong understanding of Linux systems, virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM), and cloud-scale deployments.
- Deep knowledge of file systems, block/object storage, disaster recovery, and backup technologies.
- Excellent debugging and root-cause analysis skills for distributed and performance-related issues.
- Familiarity or interest in AI-driven test optimization is a plus.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills to work across Dev, Product, and QA teams.
